FAQs
Workplace mediation works on the basis that those involved in a dispute invariably want to find a way forward but are unable to do this without the support of an impartial third party facilitator.
The process is confidential and completely voluntary. Our mediators will ensure that the meetings are well balanced, allowing all concerned the opportunity to express their opinions and ideas so that they can find a mutually acceptable solution.
Where does mediation take place?
Where does mediation take place?
We can travel to you - wherever you are based in the South West or even outside the region. If you have suitable facilities within your own premises, these are usually preferable as they minimise the disruption to you and your employees. However, if you do not have available rooms or if we feel that the case would benefit from an off-site location, we can make appropriate arrangements.
An overall positive experience. Well done on a great company and service
How long does it take?
How long does it take?
The length of mediation depends on the complexity of your individual case. However, in our experience most disputes can be resolved in a day. If we feel that your case will take longer than a day we will inform you before we start and give you an idea of the likely time required. Although you will hopefully resolve the issue in a single mediation meeting, we always follow up each case within an agreed timescale as it is important that we check in with you to make sure things are progressing in the right direction as hoped, so that if not we can together decide whether we can be of further assistance.
I found the service very professional and efficient
What is the format of a mediation?
What is the format of a mediation?
Obviously every case is different; consequently, we tailor each mediation to the specifics of the case rather than adopting a generic approach. In order to really get to grips with the issue, we take time to learn about your organisation and to understand the individual roles necessary to make your business work effectively.
To begin, each individual involved in the case has a separate meeting with the mediator in order to explain their point of view and express what they hope to achieve from the mediation. This also provides an opportunity to reassure people about the process and explain how the mediator will ensure that the meeting is ‘fair & balanced’ and that each person will have the chance to explain their point of view. Once people feel reassured and comfortable we then move on to a joint/group mediation.

If required and agreed by all the parties involved, a document can be written to confirm the points of action and agreements made from the meeting.
